The Eric Verhaar Scholarship is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide students who are active in their communities scholarships so they can continue to pursue their dreams and make their communities stronger.

College Scholarships are awarded to students from West Michigan currently enrolled in a Michigan Community College, 4 year College or University or Trade School.

We also support the Boy Scout Camp Gerber, the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow and Local Boy Scout Troops.

The Organization was founded in 2009 to continue the community activities of Eric Verhaar, who tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident. Eric was a son, brother, friend and mentor to all who had the opportunity to know him.

Eric was an Eagle Scout, a recent graduate of Western Michigan University with a Degree in Aviation Mechanics and was entering the Marine Corp to become a pilot. Eric was one of those individuals that made friends wherever he went. Eric will be remembered for his kindness, his love of the Boy Scouts, his mentoring younger Scouts and for being a free spirit. Eric inspired everyone to realize that life needs to be lived and we need to balance work to make room for the things and people we love. Eric touched many lives and his family wants to continue his legacy by providing assistance to deserving West Michigan students.
